On October 21, a Norwegian citizen of Iranian origin who had travelled to Sweden was arrested and extradited to Denmark.

Finn Borch Andersen, the head of the Politiets Efterretningstjeneste, the national security and intelligence agency of Denmark, said: “This is a case that entails an Iranian intelligence operation in Denmark, In our view, it was an Iranian intelligence agency’s plan to assassinate a person who lives in Denmark.”

Since then, the Iranian ambassador has been expelled, Denmark has called home its own ambassador, and Denmark has vowed to push for new EU sanctions on Iran at what is already a pressing time for the mullahs.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also thanked Denmark’s government for arresting the “Iranian regime assassin” on Tuesday.

The plot
The unnamed suspect was reportedly doing surveillance on members of Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahwaz (ASMLA), while two members of the group have received threats. When the suspect was arrested, he had photos of the homes of ASMLA members in his house. The ASMLA members are now under police protection.

The plot may have targeted an event due to take place in November, but details are still emerging. The suspect will be held until November 8.

Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen described the plot as “totally unacceptable”,
What comes next is unclear. Denmark wants other EU countries to join it. With France and Denmark already involved in diplomatic spats with Iran over the plots, the pushback may grow, precisely at a difficult time for Tehran.

Iran’s other European plots
Of course, this is not the first time this year that Iran has plotted attacks against

Iranian dissidents in Europe.
In June, the Iranian Regime plotted to attack a gathering of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which was attended by over 100,000 people. They used their Austrian diplomat Assadollah Assadi to hire terrorists and give them the explosives.

In fact, one of the would-be terrorists Amir Saadouni has already revealed his years of spying on the NCRI in France, before the Regime decided to bomb the rally.
This is also not the first time that Iran targeted Ahwaz activists in Europe. In November 2017 an activist named Ahmad Mola Nissi from ASMLA was assassinated in Holland, likely at the behest of the Regime.
