INU - Now that the US has exited the landmark nuclear deal and intends to reimpose economic sanctions on a regime that already has internal problems — protests and a crashing economy — the Trump administration is examining a new plan to help Iranians fighting against the regime in Iran.

INU - At the end of last year, the people of Iran took to the streets to call for regime change. Fed up of watching the leadership of the country plunder the nation’s wealth, they protested against the corruption that affects all levels of the country’s leadership. It became very clear that the people were more than just unhappy with the situation – they are furious. There were calls for regime change and the people, in over a hundred cities and towns across the country, were chanting “Down with Rouhani” and “Down with the Supreme Leader”.

INU - Despite the recent military strike against the Syrian dictator by Western allies, the Tehran-Mediterranean corridor is still open to Iran. The Arab states and Israel have each failed to challenge Tehran’s control over the corridor while Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) targets both Riyadh and Tel Aviv.

INU - France is taking steps to increase its profile on the international front. President Emmanuel Macron is keen to get involved in the efforts to resolve the issues in the Middle East. Germany, on the other hand, is doing the opposite and is trying to stay out of international issues, evident in its refusal to participate in the US-led strikes on Syrian regime targets following the chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of civilians.

INU -Forty years ago in Iran, the uprising against the Shah was growing by the day. The people of Iran wanted a change in governance that would be fairer and more democratic. They wanted an end to the use of secret police forces who used violence against the Iranian people. So they chanted “Down with the Shah”.
