NCRI – Iranian dissident in Camp Liberty, Iraq and five countries across the world continued their hunger strike calling for the release of seven Camp Ashraf residents taken hostage by Iraqi forces on September 1.
The Iraqi forces upon the order of Nouri al-Mailki and at the behest of the Iranian regime attacked Camp Ashraf and killed 52 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
On Thursday, the health conditions of a number of Camp Liberty residents deteriorated as their hunger strike entered its 33 days.
Among those on hunger strike are the mothers, fathers, children and other family members of the martyrs and hostages of the September 1 massacre of PMOI members in Camp Ashraf.
Simultaneously, Iranians in the cities of Geneva, London, Berlin, Ottawa, and Melbourne are also on hunger strike.Â
Mrs Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, at the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe on September 30 regarding the hostages of Camp Ashraf and the crime against humanity at Ashraf said: “watching in silence is tantamount to approving the crime and caving in to desire of a bloodletting religious fascism.”
The hunger strikers are pressing for the release of the seven Camp Ashraf hostages that are being held by al-Maliki forces in Baghdad Green Zone Area.
Maliki and his security advisor Faleh al-Fayyaz continuously relocate the hostages in a bid to clear their trace.
By doing so, they intend to distort the reality and give the impression that the hostages are not held by the Iraqi government. The hostages are being relocated in governmental vehicles, GMCs with tinted windows.
The hunger strikers are urging the U.S., UN and EU to act urgently to free the hunger strikes that are in danger of being handed over to the Iranian regime to face torture and execution.
